Praise from the Cave (a poem based on Psalm 142)

Mar 12 2024 - Eric Buresh

In the cave of solitude, I pour out my soul,
A whispering echo, where shadows stroll.
Beneath the weight of trials, I make my plea,
To God alone, my heart's transparency.

Amidst the rocks, where shadows dance,
Buffeted by life's circumstance.
With lifted eyes, my voice takes flight,
In the cave's darkness, still bathed in His light.

The cavern walls, witnesses to despair,
Yet in this haven, arises my prayer.
A sanctuary found in the depths profound,
In the cave's stillness, grace does abound.

In solitude's chamber, I'm not alone,
For in the cave, His presence is known.
Amongst the stones, I feel His embrace,
In the cavern's discomfort, I find His face.

The cave's foreboding is a sacred space,
Where troubles echo, we find His grace.
With emotions as offerings, my heart does sing,
From the rock-hewn lesson, His praises ring.
