The Forsaken Miracle

God has always desired to be with His people. He consecrates a space and invites us in. For Moses it was in the thunder and lightning on a mountain top. For the high priest it was behind the temple veil in the holy of holies. For the disciples, it was wherever Jesus was—around dinner tables, on boats, in synagogues, in gardens and mountains and fields (John 2:19-22). For us, it’s anywhere we are (I Corinthians 6:19-20)
“Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last. Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom” (Mark 15:37-38). The veil was the separation between God’s presence and God’s people. When Jesus died, He did away with it! We are no longer separated by our sin OR from His presence!
The blood of Jesus paid the payment for our sin, and it was our sin that was keeping us from being able to approach the Living God! His blood gave us access to His presence! Not just for eternity but for all the days of our life. That means at any moment of any day, we can be with Him! We can worship Him. We can hear from Him. We can talk with Him! This is the beginning of the greatest gift He gave us—eternity with Him. But we don’t have to wait for heaven to enjoy it.
This is a miracle!! Don’t forsake it. Talk to Him. Listen to Him. Worship Him in song and dance and art and obedience. Much of my life, I’ve missed the astounding wonder of it. I’ve doubted it, I’ve rushed it, and at times I’ve set it aside altogether. Don’t neglect the relationship His blood offers you. He wants to be with you…He went to great lengths to show it!
